TAMPA, Fla. — A huge cheer erupted at Mitt Romney’s election night headquarters seconds after the polls closed Tuesday in Florida and the major networks declared him the winner of the GOP presidential primary.
Carol Mitsch, a semi-retired business owner from nearby Utz, was among those cheering.
“I was very disappointed last time, in ’08,” Mitsch said, referring to Romney’s failed bid for the White House four years ago. She said she likes the new, more aggressive Romney who’s emerged in Florida to fend off attacks from his chief rival, former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
